Rest & Heal with Yoga Nidra

Autumn is a season of transformation.

In the best of times, many of us navigate changing schedules and increasingly responsibility during this time of the year. The shifts in the natural world inspire us to move indoors and to go to bed earlier. To eat heartier meals. It is a turn toward a season of harvest and nourishment and of rest.

And—wow—could we all use some rest right now.

Even if you have been mostly at home for the past 6 months, it’s likely that your nervous system has been working overtime. Sometimes a regular night of sleep—if you’re able to grab one—really isn’t enough to recover from the effects of the anxiety of “these unprecedented times.” (Anyone else sick of that phrase?)

In my years practicing and instructing yoga and Ayurveda, I added lots of techniques to my self-care bag of tricks, but one of my favorites is a practice called Yoga Nidra.

I love Yoga Nidra because you don’t have to do anything but just lie there and relax.

I know that even that can be hard, but using the recording below might make it easier.

If you do try it, please let me know how it feels.
